Ology Tea Tree Essential Oil

15 ml (0.5 ounce)

Tea tree will always be near and dear to my heart since it was the essential oil that launched my aromatherapy career and business.

Latin Name: Melaleuca alternifolia
Source: Australia
Note: Middle
Method: Steam Distilled

Ology Essential carries only pure unadulterated essential oils. Ology Essentials products are GC/MS analyzed by Applied Essential Oil Research for quality assurance. All essential oils meet strict odor and analytical requirements.

CAUTION: Do not use essential oils undiluted. Do not consume essential oils. No matter what the brand is, internal use is not safe without being under the care of a practitioner trained in Aromamedicine and the use of an aromatogram. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant or have a medical condition consult your physician before using.

Non-toxic, but may cause skin irritation in people with sensitive skin. If oxidized, it may cause sensitization. When oxidized, higher levels of para cymene are present (under 12% is good). When creating products with oils prone to oxidizing, you can add the antioxidant alpha tocopherol (Vitamin E) at .01-.02%. This is an exact figure—a larger amount will not be more effective.

Tea tree oil has set international stands and identical Australian standards.

Tea Tree ISO4730 and AS 2782-1997 Standards

The chemical composition of tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) and the identical Australian standard AS 2782-2009 (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 of the more than 100 components in pure Australian tea tree oil. Any batch of oil sold by an Australian Tea Tree International Association (ATTIA) member must be accompanied by an independently tested certificate of analysis demonstrating conformance to these standards. ATTIA also recommends that the country of origin is clearly declared when purchasing tea tree oil from any supplier.

AS 2782 – 2009 Oil of Melaleuca, terpen-4-ol type (Tea Tree Oil)

Essential oil obtained by steam distillation of the foliage and terminal branchlets of Melaleuca alternifolia (Maiden et Betche) Cheel, Melaleuca linariifolia Smith, and Melaleuca dissitiflora F. Mueller, as well as other species of Melaleuca provided that the oil obtained conforms to the requirements given in this International Standard.
